What could better data be worth to you?

Two quick estimators for mining and energy operations. Use your own figures; nothing is stored or sent unless you choose to send it to us.

Across the plant, fleet or site you want to look at.
Lost production margin plus standing costs. Use your own figure.
Your own assumption for what earlier warnings and better planning could prevent.
All the people who pull data together for shift, weekly and month-end reports.
Salary plus overheads, averaged across those people.
Your own assumption for how much of that work could be automated.

Illustrative only. The result comes entirely from the figures and percentages you enter; it is not a forecast, quote or promise of results.

South Africa's carbon tax rate is R308 per tonne of CO2e in 2026 and is set to rise each year to R462 in 2030 (Carbon Tax Act, section 5). Enter your site's figures to see how the cost grows.

Fuel combustion, process and fugitive emissions from your GHG report. Exclude diesel and petrol (see the next two boxes) and Eskom electricity.
Basic, trade-exposure, offset and other allowances combined. Phase 2 (from 2026) changes these, so use the figure from your tax adviser.
Haul trucks, loaders, generators. Taxed through the carbon fuel levy at the pump: 23c a litre from 1 April 2026.
Light vehicles. Carbon fuel levy 19c a litre from 1 April 2026.
For example +3% if production grows, −5% with a fuel-switch plan.
Shows the carbon cost per tonne.

An estimate for planning, not tax advice. Carbon tax rates from the Carbon Tax Act (R308 in 2026, R347 in 2027, R385 in 2028, R424 in 2029, R462 in 2030). Fuel levy held at the April 2026 rates for later years; budgets may raise it. Confirm your liability and allowances with your tax adviser.
